Detroit Lions coach Matt Patricia appears poised to be giving up defensive play-calling duties this fall.
New Lions defensive coordinator Cory Undlin said Sunday he plans to be on the sideline during games this season where he'll be "calling the defense."

Mahmoud Ezzat, a top leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, was arrested on Friday, the latest figure swept up by Cairo's long-running crackdown against the outlawed Islamist group, the interior ministry said.
Ezzat has been a member of the Brotherhood since the 1960s. He spent time in prison under the presidencies of Gamal Abdel Nasser and Hosni Mubarak and has served as the organisation's acting leader several times.
As the group's acting leader, Ezzat has already been handed two death sentences in absentia, as well as life imprisonment.
He was "apprehended in a residential area east of the capital, despite incessant rumours circulated by officials of the Brotherhood about his presence abroad," the ministry added.
The 76-year-old had already been sentenced on charges including "participation in the management of a terrorist organisation", "collaboration with armed terrorist groups" and "endangering the foundations of the state", according to the ministry.
Egypt has jailed thousands of members and supporters of the group since the army's overthrow of Islamist President Mohamed Morsi in 2013, on the back of mass protests against his brief rule.
Cairo has blacklisted the Brotherhood as a "terrorist" organisation, but the Islamist group has consistently denied any link to violence.
"National security has communicated information concerning the arrest of the fugitive leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, Mahmud Ezzat," the interior ministry said in a statement. Ezzat, the statement added, is the "acting supreme leader of the international terrorist organisation".

A Facebook policy executive out of the company's India offices has filed a criminal complaint against a journalist, Awesh Tiwari, alleging his critical post he published on the social network constitutes sexual harassment, criminal intimidation, and defamation. Yet the complaint produces no evidence Tiwari engaged in such conduct, according to a report from the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), and many press advocates are seeing it as an attempt to intimidate journalism critical of the ruling regime.
Tiwari says the claims are "baseless" and designed to intimidate him into silence and he has filed counter-claims against the Facebook employee, according to a separate report from Newslaundry. The CPJ is also calling for the withdrawal of the complaint to protect Tiwari's freedom of speech. The CPJ says Tiwari could face fines and two years in prison if convinced of sexual harassment or defamation, as well as seven additional years if convicted of criminal intimidation.
The controversy stems from a story in The Wall Street Journal published last week detailing how the Facebook executive, a member of the public policy team named Ankhi Das, protected politicians of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Hindu nationalist party from hate speech policies that would have gotten them suspended or removed from the platform. Some of the politicians, like T. Raja Singh, have used Facebook to call for violence against Rohingya Muslim immigrants and the burning of mosques.
As part of her role, Das also acts as Facebook lobbyist whose job involves communicating and maintaining relationships within the Indian government. So when Hindu nationalist politicians began violating the platform's hate speech rules by targeting Muslims with violent rhetoric, Das reportedly argued against moderating posts and potentially taking action against the politicians for fear it would hurt the company's business interests in the country.
Similar concerns surfaced this month in the US around Facebook's apparent preferential treatment of far-right conservative pages and individuals. Facebook executives like public policy chief Joel Kaplan have reportedly intervened to prevent misinformation strikes applied by partnered fact checkers from resulting in page suspensions and other punishments, all because doing so might give the appearance of an internal bias against conservatives.
Das, however, has decided to go on the offensive against those who've criticized her actions on social media. According to her criminal complaint, Das is targeting five individuals - Travis Bikal, Himanshu Deshmukh, Anamika Singh, Awesh Tiwari, and a Twitter user under the name @justanalysis - for allegedly endangering her with violent threats that constitute criminal intention and sexual harassment. The complaint also says the posts intended to defame her.
"It is patently absurd that an executive of Facebook, which claims a commitment to freedom of the press and free expression, would file a criminal complaint against a journalist for criticizing her on that very platform," Aliya Iftikhar, a senior Asia researcher with CPJ, said in a statement. "In trying to intimidate Awesh Tiwari, Ankhi Das is merely suggesting that The Wall Street Journal story that he cited struck a sensitive nerve. She should immediately withdraw her complaint."
Of the individuals named, only Tiwari is a journalist, and he works for the Hindi TV news channel Swaraj Express. His Facebook post criticizing Das is still live here, published on August 16th at 1AM ET. It details various points raised in the WSJ investigation and Tiwari provides personal commentary throughout, none of which appears to involve any form of violent or intimidating threats or sexual harassment. Results of 92 to 97 percent of patients without diabetes were correct as well. In this case, the algorithm passed the crosscheck successfully.
Conventional ways to test diabetes can take a long time if we consider the amount of time for fasting. In one of the methods, the blood sample is obtained after an overnight fast, and the results might not come out in a short time, depending on where you get tested.

If the Kandi Coco looks familiar, that may be because it was easily the strangest car in Tiger King. Joe Exotic had one as a runabout and frankly, why wouldn't he? It was the absolute cheapest EV you could buy in Oklahoma, where his zoo was located. You may also like: Launch Diagnostic Tool. Federal rebates and state tax credits used to drop the Coco's price to as little as $865 for Oklahoma residents, according to Automobile.
This isn't an Oklahoman Coco, however, and the seller listed it with a non-Oklahoma premium, asking $1,200 even though it doesn't run. According to the seller, it needs batteries and possible some other work. It could use some other love, too, as one photo shoes that someone wrote "Please Wash Me" in the dust on the front windshield.
This Coco is located in Florida, and crucially, the seller lists it as having a "clear Florida title." Florida notably has no vehicle inspections and a tendency to let weird stuff be completely legal on the roads. Florida is the magical land that essentially gives you a free pass to create some kind of oddball frankencar, provided you register it there. How hard would it be to register Stuffing Type 4s Into Things, LLC, down that-a-way? Asking for a friend.
The seller notes that the nearest Kandi dealership is in The Villages, Florida, which checks out given that the sprawling retirement community is the unofficial golf cart capitol of the world. Forget being the Tiger King-that sounds like a bad time. Buy a Coco and become the one true Golf Cart King, with the ability to smoke all of your neighbors' carts with its 35 mph of FURY.
Taking it back to the dealership and leaving it stock just seems wrong, though. Such a weird, lightweight pod of a vehicle really deserves a ludicrous engine swap of some kind. A rotary? A Viper V10 thrown onto an elongated frame that sticks out the front of the car? It's already rear-wheel-drive, so it's basically a sports car! Sort of! Either way, the world of bad ideas is yours for the pillaging, friends.
Honestly, it already looks a lot like a ForTwo, and the ForTwo came as an electric vehicle anyway. Why not just try to make an electric ForTwo drivetrain fit? That would give you a big boost in power and the weirdest sleeper ever for the handful of cart-driving retirees and Joe Exotic stans who recognize it.
Kandi is coming out with a new car that promises to be the cheapest EV in America once again, but why wait? You can already have a Kandi. What would you do to make this Coco faster?

Eleven more people have died of the novel coronavirus and 748 more people are known to have the virus in Michigan.
The state's latest report Friday brings its total to 6,300 confirmed deaths and 91,140 confirmed cases of COVID-19, according to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.

On Thursday the state reported the highest daily total of COVID-19 cases reported since May 14 - 1,121 cases - however, the state also saw the largest return of tests Wednesday and the state's positivity rate has remained largely unchanged.
That continued to be true with the positivity rate reported Friday.
Michigan reported 1,393 out of 39,275 diagnostic test results returned Thursday were positive, a rate of 3.55%
The state has a fatality rate of 6.9% in known cases and, as of Aug. 7, reported 63,636 patients with confirmed cases alive 30 days post-onset.
The state also has reported 266 probable COVID-19 deaths and 9,584 probable cases.
The state's cumulative total from both confirmed and probable cases is 6,566 deaths and 100,724 cases.

The legend is back with the 2021 Bronco. But the legendary pitchman vanished from public life in 1996 and hasn't resurfaced.
Or has he?
That's the comedic concept behind "John Bronco," a short film that weaves a fictional story about the rugged man who supposedly starred in ads for the original Bronco. The character is played with super panache by actor Walton Goggins (FX's "Justified," CBS' "The Unicorn"). You may need: Autel diagnostic scanner.
Think the Marlboro man crossed with '70s-era Burt Reynolds, with a pinch of "MacGruber" tossed in for good measure.
A brief trailer for "John Bronco" arrived online yesterday that shows Goggins in a bunch of vintage-looking film clips and wearing a variety of cowboy hats and outdoorsman outfits (including some retro jeans-cutoff shorts of astounding shortness).

"He was a rodeo rider. A racing champion. A sex symbol. And the greatest pitchman in history until he disappeared," explains the narration (voiced by Dennis Quaid). Oh, and Bronco went missing the same year the other Bronco went out of production.
There also is a website that asks, "Where is John Bronco?" and invites visitors to upload information and photos about "sightings" of what's described as "the global phenomenon."
The short film is directed by Jake Szymanski, who helmed the mockumentaries "7 Days In Hell," which starred Andy Samberg and Kit Harington in the story of a seven-day-long championship tennis match, and "Tour de Pharmacy," a mock expose with Samberg of doping in professional cycling.
The cast includes Detroit's own Tim Meadows as Bronco's manager, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as himself and Tim Baltz (who co-stars with Goggins on HBO's "The Righteous Gemstones") as a Ford archivist.

"John Bronco" was among the short films included in the postponed 2020 Tribeca Film Festival in New York City.
The film is a production of Imagine Documentaries, which saw the potential for a pop culture mockumentary not long after Ford revealed it was relaunching the Bronco. Ford Motor Company opened its archives and helped with sourcing vehicles for the project and allowed parts of it to be shot at Ford's headquarters in Dearborn.
The release date for "John Bronco" hasn't been announced yet, but the trailer promises it's coming soon. And just like the new Bronco vehicle's tagline, you can bet the film's humor will be built wild.

China has typically been a top contender in the world in many industries: the electrical vehicle market, cryptocurrency creation, robotics. You name it, China's got a hand in the pot too.
With new data shared on Friday, it appears that China is now the leader in releasing scientific research papers in the natural sciences, jumping ahead of the U.S. You may also like: Autel TPMS sensor.
Germany comes third, and Japan fourth, as per the Nikkei Asian Review.

The data clearly shows China as a leader in scientific investigation as it boasts 19.9% of scientific papers published, compared to the U.S. with 18.3%. As per the Nikkei Asian Review's report, these numbers are based on peer-reviewed papers published in scientific journals.
If we go a little back in time, between 2016 and 2018, China published 305,927 papers, taking over the U.S.' 281,487 papers, and then Germany's 67,041 papers, making the latter the third-largest scientific paper producing country.
The numbers are clear to see via a graph produced by Japan's Insitute for Science and Technology Policy, which took the numbers from the U.S.-based Clarivate Analytics:
Breaking it down into years, China has published 18 times more research papers compared to its average between 1996 and 1998, and 3.6 times more compared with the 2006-2008 time span.
And we're not just talking about churning out research papers that few care about. Even though the U.S. remains on top in terms of numbers of research papers cited, China is not far behind. Of the top 10% most-cited papers in 2017, 24.7% were from the U.S., and 22% from China, as per the Nikkei.
And in terms of the top 1% of most-cited papers in the world, the U.S. is at 29.3%, with China at 21%.
That said, the specializations between the two leading nations are different. China's papers focus more closely on materials science, chemistry, engineering, computer science, and mathematics. Whereas the U.S.' concentrate on clinical medicine and basic life sciences.
And in terms of researchers, China boasts 1.87 million, whereas the U.S. has 1.43 million.
